Panel Forums is designed to allow a maximum of five experts in an array of fields to jointly present information and allow for a healthy dissection of this information. The purpose of Panel Forums is to provide the student body at Waterford Kamhlaba and the wider community with a holistic view of the facets that comprise our society. This layout allows the audience an opportunity to challenge their notions of society, their economies, and their interpersonal and professional relationships as well as reflect upon their aspirations for the future and their country.
Panel Forum I titled Revelations of Heritage draws its inspiration from Agenda 2063 proposed by the African Union which aims to deliver on its goals for an inclusive Africa and sustainable development—specifically looking into aspiration 5 which calls for an Africa with a Strong Cultural Identity, Common Heritage, Values and Ethics. In the spirit of Africa Week's overarching theme, "The Untold Renaissance," our panel forum on "Cultural Preservation and Celebration of African Culture" seeks to unravel the rich tapestry of untold stories that have shaped the continent's diverse heritage.
Panel Forum II titled African Women in STEM, held as part of Africa Week under the theme of the Untold Renaissance, serve as a platform to celebrate the significant contributions of African women to the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The discussions highlighted the inspiring journeys of women who have excelled in STEM careers, providing valuable insights into how they identified their career paths and overcame various obstacles. The panel exemplifies the untold renaissance of African science and innovation, emphasizing hope and empowerment for the future of STEM education and research on the continent.
